WING ON, 25 years, master of Fishing Junk 1863H.W. residing on
bo A, of Hong Kong, states:-
I am the master of the above junk which left Shaukiwan on the
6-12-40 at 02.00 hours for the sea to fish. Altogether including
myself there were 40 persons on board.
On the 7-12-40, at 10.30 hours, my junk was sailing about 10
平海
miles south of PING HỎI (Long.114° 51′ East. Lat.220 37' North) I saw
a Japanese trawler painted grey, one funnel, one mast, and flying
Japanese Naval flag at ita stern come from a north easterly direction.
When the trawler was a short distance away, the Japanese opened fire
with machine guns. I lowered my sails and the trawler came along side.
I saw the number 20 painted white on the bridge and 25 amidships. About
12 Japanese boarded my junk, some were dressed in blue and some in
white uniform and armed with rifles, revolvers and short swords. One of
the Japanese made signs for the No.1 and I stepped forward. Further
enquiries made and I produced my licence, three fifles, three musketa,
one revolver and 350 rounds ammunition which the Japanese took on board
the trawler. Our persons were searched and $30.00 was taken from
pocket. From a box in my cabin the Japanese took $300.00 Hong Kong
三門関 currency. The trawler then steamed away in the direction of BAN MUN KWAN
(Long.1140 39 E. Lat. 22° 26' N.)
After about 20 minutes steaming the trawler changed its course
towards the south east. I heard some shots fired and I saw the trawler
go alongside Trading Junk Fo.T4240H. The trawler started to tow it in
the direction of my junk. The trawler came alongside my junk for the
second time, and all the crew of the trading junk were put on board my
三門関 junk and the trawler steamed away in the direction of SAM MỪN KHAN (Lonɛ.
114° 39' H. Lat. 22° 26' X.) towing junk No.T4240H. I set sail for
Hong Kong and arrived at Shaukiwan on the 7-12-40 at 23.00 hours.
